Hasbro Children’s Hospital is Rhode Island and southeastern New England’s premier advanced pediatric specialty care and outpatient center.  Realizing the need for a state-of-the-art pediatric hospital, Hasbro Children’s Hospital was built in 1994 by the community, for the community.  Hasbro Children’s Hospital is the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital and the pediatric teaching hospital of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, at which most of its physicians hold faculty appointments.

The mission of Hasbro Children’s Hospital is to be at the forefront of pediatric patient care by creating, applying and sharing the most advanced knowledge in health care.

The 87-bed hospital each year cares for more than 6,200 inpatients, 75,000 outpatient and an additional 50,000 patients in its pediatric emergency department.  We have specifically designed our services to meet the needs of our children and families and in fact we are the only pediatric facility in the region that offers the following:
• A Center for Pediatric Imaging
• Pediatric intensive care unit
• Pediatric oncology, endoscopy, and outpatient cardiac programs

There are separate emergency and surgical unites designated for infants and children, along with specialty medical clinics treating children ranging in age from newborn to 18 years. Hasbro Children’s Hospital is at the forefront of numerous pediatric subspecialties including neurosurgery, minimally invasive scoliosis surgery and pediatric kidney transplantation.

Among the leading pediatric facilities in the nation, Hasbro Children’s Hospital’s core philosophy is to support and care for the entire family before, during and after a child’s treatment. The hospital boasts one of the highest ratios of child life specialists to patients in the country, and offers numerous specialized support programs.  One such support program is the Hasbro School which provides a sense of normalcy for patients and families by allowing children to continue their academic involvement with their school during their stay.  The hospital has earned worldwide recognition for its family-centered environment and expert staff, and was recently ranked among the top 30 hospitals in the United States by Parents magazine.

Hasbro Children’s Hospital is constantly making enhancements to existing programs and services.  New initiatives that have been recently launched and expanded to further support the community include:
• The Tomorrow Fund Pediatric Hematology Oncology Clinic
• Development of a certified pediatric burn center
• Opening of a state-of-the-art pediatric food and allergy program; a program which will lead the way in food allergy diagnosis and treatment for children across New England and the country.

Thanks to the generosity and steadfast commitment from our community of supporters, Hasbro Children’s Hospital will continue to provide excellent and compassionate care to Rhode Island and southeastern New England’s smallest patients and their families tomorrow and beyond.
